New DC For Midlothian District

I am very pleased to be able to let you know that Martin Browne has agreed to be Acting DC. He is currently the Youth Involvement Commissioner for South East Scotland Region and now wishes to move back closer to Scouting at District level. Martin has done excellent work in that role and I know that he will do his best to support Scouting in Midlothian.

Martin hopes to attend the next District Exec meeting and will certainly attend the next District Leadership Team meeting on 11 Sept. He will be sending out the agenda for that meeting and looks forward to meeting all of you whom he had already met at the last meeting. Martin will now take over all the responsibilities of a DC.

I am also very pleased to be able to let you know that Callum Anderson and Ross Lyall are going to join Martin as the two DDCs to support him. All the appointments will start from yesterday, 3 August 2019. All of them will need to go to a Regional Advisory Appointments Committee in due course. I am so glad that we can have a team of 3 people, with Martin as the person from outwith the District and the two DDCs having an in depth knowledge of the District.

Thank you to everyone in Midlothian for all the work you do in the District and your commitment and time you give to Scouting. I am convinced that the District will continue to be a great place for Scouting because of your combined work in offering exciting opportunities for young people to have fun and adventures.

With best wishes,
Margery Naylor
Regional Commissioner, South East Scotland Scouts
