Midlothian Scouts on Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) 2015
The Scouts are Online!
Every year Scouts and Explorers from all around the District took part in Jamboree on the Internet. This involves the Scouts and Explorers using computers connect to the Internet to chat with Scouts and Guides from all over the world.
The event was attended by Scouts from both the 14th Midlothian (Bonnyrigg) and the 33rd Midlothian (Mayfield) Scout Groups. There were also a few Explorers from the District’s Explorer Unit as well.
Everyone at the overnight event had a great time, some dropped in for a few hours on the Saturday. While others stayed the whole night. They all had a blast.
During the course of the evening the Scouts and Explorers had the opportunity to chat online with Scouts and Guides from every corner of the globe. Some of the countries the young people were chatting with were: France, Spain, Portugal, United States of America to name a few.
The Leaders also got to take part and discuss the different ways that the Scouting programme is run in different countries.
Everyone who took part in the event was also awarded the JOTI (Jamboree on the Internet) and JOTA (Jamboree on the Air) Badge, which I’m sure the Scouts, Explorers and Leaders will wear with pride.
